I sit by myself in this moment of silence before the sun rises and the voices began chattering. Moving forward forgetting the past reminding myself that everything is different. It is not comfortable BUT the key to growth. You know the saying keep doing the same thing expecting different results is insanity. I am talking myself into different.
Different today is learning what I need in order to give 150% to others…God, my boys, my job, my friendships to be the light of Christ. I can’t give what I don’t have. This week has been a bit more challenging to find balance between both jobs, feeling more exhausted, go, go, go! Not being intentional about more time to nurture myself equals burnout.
Note to self: The more you give….the more you must receive life from the key source -Christ!
You can’t give your absolute best UNLESS you give yourself the absolute BEST!
Self care is a huge gift of loving yourself. This is the key to unlocking God’s greatest commandment, loving God and your neighbor as yourself.
SO, HOW IS YOUR SELF CARE WORKING?
I am currently exploring a new health playground free of toxins that I can control and free of medication. I can’t help but thank God for my liver detoxing my body and my brain as I navigate my emotions, reactions, energy. It is a new field of understanding the signals, triggers and feelings. Exhaustion both physically and emotionally do not equal best self. Not taking the time to create sacred space. Yesterday was a complete go-go-go day. Never taking time to nurture my needs without setting aside time for me. I managed, don’t we all?
But where do you end up? On the floor trying to get up, nurse yourself with a quick fix, put a band aid on the wound …you can do it.
You got this, just suck it up, you will be ok. BUT REALLY? Will you be ok?
STOP THE INSANITY.
Self-care must be a priority! As I sit here taking time to reflect, ponder and prepare myself for this new day I know that this time is the best investment I can make. I am worth it and everyone I love is worth it. It is so funny how I can convince myself that I am doing good, I got this. But the moment I respond or feel something not ok, I can track it to how I am doing on self care. AND what is self care for you? I have worked at learning what I need and when I need it. Getting it all figured is not the end result, self care is a work in progress, when life changes so must self care. I highly recommend that you make YOUR own list of what self care is for you. As unique individuals, so is our self care. Make a list of things that make you feel good and produce fruit (fruit of the spirit-joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, love, self-control) in your life. Is it the simple things in your life that make you feel your best? What about time? How do you spend your time? How do you take care of your body? Friend, all of this intentional living matters. How you take care of yourself reflects how you love yourself. God loves you and you are worth all the work, effort in making self care a sacred space and time.
Let’s do different, starting with self.
